august news update

Lyme Regis Majorettes

Lyme Regis Majorettes was founded in 1982 by members of the London Inn Wanderers Social Club. The club thought Lyme Regis should have its own majorette troupe and so they approached Jill Chase to train the troupe which consisted of 15 members.
The present Trainer Olivia Miller started in the troupe at the age of 6 and took over as Trainer at the age of 17. The troupe is the largest youth organisation in Lyme Regis with over 55 members.

June news update

Only 4 months to go, sounds a long time but considering we started putting this together in
October last year time seems to be flying by.

hontion gymnastics club

We are delighted to welcome Honiton Gymnastics Club who will be performing at 4 One Night Only, with performances from national and international medallists and south west champions.  Their performances combine traditional gymnastics skills with striking choreography and circus-style acrobatics, so you'll be treated to something creative and spectacular.

Honiton Gymnastics Club's gymnasts' ages range from three to 21, and the club runs sessions at Honiton Sports Centre four times per week for beginners, recreational gymnasts, elite performers and adults www.honitongymclub.org. East Devon Music Studios is locally based and specialises in music tuition and live performance as well as 2 full recording studios.

Nik and Sarah Ryan are both professional musicians and have over 20 years experience in the music industry recently working with Marillion, Caro Emerald, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Chase & Status amongst others.

Sarah has been busy rehearsing with members of her "Sarah Ryan Music School & Pupils from Shute Community Primary School" who will be producing some great sets for you incorporating solo performances, singing and dancing, a debut performance from one of her pupils with a song he has written and composed, a duet from "Tangled" and The Teachers and Staff from Shute Community Primary School.

Jason Hill and Mark Rowe, the Axminster comedy duo are returning for the second time to 'One Night only'. The critically acclaimed retired young farmers were trained at the exclusive Axe Valley School drama department. Upon leaving the School they turned their attention to the Axminster Young Farmers and performed in many club productions reaching the dizzy heights of the East Devon Final... Never winning but with the only disqualification in history meant they were destined for bigger things. Comedy sketches followed and the boys are now regular visitors to the Guildhall! Sit back and enjoy the off the cuff unscripted mayhem that pursues, bad jokes, bad acting and even worse singing make for a performance you will not forget… even if you want to!

Military Wives
Exciting news for us all, we are pleased to confirm The Military Wives will be attending our show in October, not only performing some of their amazing songs to entertain you, but have agreed to sing with the children and cast of the show the single written by Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber "Sing".

Military Wives are a British choir group formed of wives and girlfriends, service woman and affiliates of British Military personnel and are located around the country.

The choir performed at the opening of the Olympic Stadium in London ten choirs contributed to the Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber single written to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. This single, entitled Sing features voices and instruments from across the Commonwealth and features the Military Wives as the backing track and representing the UK.

The second ambitious album Stronger Together was produced by Jon Cohen who went on a road trip in July to record not just five or ten choirs but 24 Military Wives Choirs. The original five of Catterick, Chivenor, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Lympstone were joined by another twenty three Abingdon, Ayios Nikolas (Cyprus), Chicksands, Condor, Culdrose, Defence Academy, Dishforth, Herford (Germany), JHQ, Marchwood, Marham, Middle Wallop, Salisbury Plain, Shawbury, Shorncliffe, Warminster, Wattisham, West of Scotland and Wimbush. Over 700 ladies recorded on the album. On September 13th the 24 choirs who recorded the album, sent their members down to London over 650 ladies from near and far recorded the Stronger Together video for release 5 Nov 2012.

Nicky Clarke wrote on the album cover... 'Stronger Together' really does sum up this year (2012) we've bought together women from all over the Military Community, in their own choirs, on-line, at the Jubilee and now on this album and still the choirs continue to grow. This is a testament to every woman in the Military Community - they are strong, resourceful women who support their loved ones when they're away'.
